About Fflach

Dechreuwyd Recordiau Fflach gan y brodyr Richard a Wyn Jones ym 1981. Roedd y ddau yn aelodau o’r grwp don newydd/pync Ail Symudiad, ac mae’r band dal i fynd. Ar y dechrau dim ond label oedd Fflach yn hyrwyddo grwpiau roc, pop a ska, ond yn yr wythdegau canol ychwanegwyd stiwdio 8-trac, ac yn sgil hyn recordiwyd mwy o artistiaid, a mentro mewn i’r meysydd corawl, gwerin a canu gwlad.

Erbyn y nawdegau cynnar roedd y stiwdio yn 24-trac gyda’r catalog yn cynyddu hefyd, ac yn 1997 daeth label newydd o’r enw fflach:tradd, label cerddoriaeth traddiodiadol Gymreig, a thorri tir newydd gyda CDs fel Ffidil, y cyntaf o’i fath yng Nghymru – daeth y label hwn â chydnabyddiaeth dramor i Fflach. Nes mlaen yn 2000 ffurfiwyd Rasp, label indie/dawns gan recordio ymysg eraill Swci Boscawen, Texas Radio Band a Vanta. Mae’r stiwdio nawr yn hollol ddigidol ac artistiaid newydd yn cael eu recordio o hyd, ac ar gael i’w llogi hefyd.

Fflach Records was started by brothers Richard and Wyn Jones in 1981. They were members of the Welsh language new wave/punk band Ail Symudiad – the band still play to this day. At the beginning Fflach was only a label, recording and promoting rock, pop and ska bands, but in the mid-eighties the label acquired an 8-track recording studio, and they then started recording artists from different genres including choral music, folk and country.

By the early nineties Fflach was a 24-track studio and the catalogue was increasing, and in 1997 fflach:tradd was formed, dedicated to Welsh traditional music, and produced ground-breaking albums such as Ffidil, the first of its kind in Wales – this label also brought recognition outside Wales for Fflach. By 2000 the company had a new indie/dance label called Rasp and was recording artists such as Swci Boscawen, Texas Radio Band and Vanta. The studio is now completely digital and new artists are being recorded, whilst also being available for hire.

Fflach Tradd

Sefydlwyd label fflach:tradd yn 1997 fel label arbenigol ar gyfer cerddoriaeth draddodiadol Gymreig yn bennaf. Y deunydd cyntaf a ryddhawyd oedd Datgan, casgliad o leisiau a chaneuon digyfeiliant o Gymru, Iwerddon, yr Alban a Llydaw. Ymunodd y pibydd enwog Ceri Rhys Matthews â’r label i gynhyrchu a chyfrannu ei wybodaeth helaeth am gerddoriaeth werin a thraddodiadol, ac erbyn hyn mae fflach:tradd wedi rhyddhau cerddoriaeth y delyn deires, y crwth, y ffidil, y bagbib Cymreig a’r pibgorn. Mae bandiau a deuawdau wedi rhyddhau CDs ar y label, yn ogystal ag artistiaid unigol.

The fflach:tradd label was established in 1997 as a specialist label for primarily Welsh traditional music. The first release Datgan brought together voices and songs from Wales, Ireland, Scotland and Brittany on an acapella album. Renowned Welsh piper Ceri Rhys Matthews was brought in to produce and bring his vast knowledge of traditional and folk music to the label. Subsequent albums featuring the triple harp, crwth, fiddle, Welsh bagpipe and hornpipes have also been released on fflach:tradd and as well as individual artists there are bands and duos who have released CDs.
